This is a self-insight quiz, not a clinical IQ test. Your score is for personal reflection only. See the FAQ below for full methodology details.

Cognitive Self-Insight: Understand Your Problem-Solving Profile

This free 16-question cognitive skills assessment evaluates your spatial reasoning, logical deduction, verbal comprehension, and numerical pattern recognition. Designed for anyone curious about how their mind works, the test maps your raw cognitive index across four distinct domains to create a unique reasoning profile. Unlike a clinical IQ test, this quiz focuses on engaging self-insight and problem-solving styles rather than clinical diagnostics. In about five minutes, you will receive a free, instant snapshot of your cognitive index score on the familiar 85–145 scale. After viewing your free baseline score, you can optionally unlock a detailed reasoning analysis that compares your exact style of thinking to history’s greatest scientists, philosophers, and inventors.

What your cognitive index score actually means

When you complete this assessment, your performance is expressed on the familiar 85–145 scale. In modern psychometrics, intelligence scores follow a standard Gaussian normal distribution where the population average is set to 100 with a standard deviation of 15. A score is not an absolute measure of brain capacity, but a relative index indicating your statistical percentile ranking compared to the broader population.

Cognitive Index Population Percentile Standard Classification
130 and above 98th percentile and above Very Superior (Top 2%)
115 – 129 84th to 97th percentile High Average / Superior
100 50th percentile (Median) Average (Exact Population Center)
85 – 99 16th to 49th percentile Average / Low Average

These percentiles follow directly from the normal distribution curve and standard statistical conventions, not proprietary formulas.

The four reasoning domains we measure

Human intelligence is multidimensional. Our assessment evaluates four foundational cognitive pillars grounded in the Cattell–Horn–Carroll theory of human cognitive abilities:

Why we match you to a historical mind

Unlike conventional tests that reduce your intellect to a cold number, our optional Deep Report matches your domain balance to history's most creative thinkers. This is an engaging storytelling and self-reflection device based on documented problem-solving styles. Whether you share the visual mental simulation of Nikola Tesla, the empirical perseverance of Marie Curie, the cross-domain polymathy of Leonardo da Vinci, or the mathematical deduction of Isaac Newton, your cognitive profile highlights how your unique mind processes information. How this test is different from a clinical IQ test

We believe in absolute transparency: this assessment is not a clinical diagnostic instrument. A clinical IQ test (such as the WAIS-IV or Stanford-Binet 5) is administered one-on-one by a licensed clinical psychologist over 60 to 90 minutes. Clinical tests are required for diagnostic evaluations, educational placement, and legal documentation. In contrast, our test is a rapid, accessible 5-minute self-insight tool designed to provide an entertaining baseline reflection of your reasoning strengths. Sixteen questions across four reasoning domains. Most people finish in under five minutes.
Each of the 16 items falls into one of four categories: numeric reasoning, verbal reasoning, logic, and pattern recognition. Your raw score across all four is converted into a cognitive index on a 85-145 scale, modeled on a standard mean-100 / SD-15 distribution, purely as a familiar frame of reference.
The Score Report ($1.99) unlocks your full 4-category percentile breakdown. Overall Summary
Your puzzle responses indicate a constructive reasoning pattern combining systematic deduction with an ability to hold multiple relational concepts simultaneously. You tend to resolve ambiguity by narrowing to structure rather than intuition.

Strongest Reasoning Signal
Your Logic scores were most pronounced — you consistently identified which premises were sufficient and which required additional constraints. This reflects deliberate, rule-governed thinking rather than trial-and-error pattern matching.

Thematic Historical Match
Your Logic result echoes the kind of thinking associated with Aristotle — not a numeric comparison, but a shared tendency to formalise relationships between statements before drawing conclusions.
